  1. Hi Billet,

Thanks for your whole group in conducting an effective peer teaching about wiki.NUS for us on Monday :) I did learn more about wiki.NUS after your presentation and I was most impressed that actually a wiki can be so useful! Thanks guys for all the hard work!

For Billet, I really enjoyed your presentation and I think you did a wonderful job. As the first presenter, you caught our attention immediately by introducing the origin of wiki and the way you told us the story was very vivid. In this way, you built rapport with the audience immediately. In addition, your voice was loud and clear and the way you presented was very appealing. The only flaw I can find in your presentation was your eye contact. During your presentation, you tended to look at a specific area only in the classroom and it will be better that you can have the eye communication with everyone in the room.

For Wenlue, your way of showing us how to use wiki.NUS step by step is very efficient and this helped us to have a better idea of what wiki.NUS can do. After your presentation, I was impressed that a wiki could actually do so many things! However, it will be better that you can organize your presentation a bit and give us a more structured way of using wiki.NUS. There are so many functions at wiki.NUS and maybe you can help us summarize a bit :)

For Sylvester, you looked professional in your appearance and your presentation was very informative. However, I found that you were a bit serious and you could vary your tone more to get the audience’s attention. This is the area that I also need to improve for myself according to the feedbacks I have received for our group’s peer teaching. Is it that Science students all tend to be serious in their presentation? Haha, I am just joking. Another thing is that during Wenlue’s presentation, you were not showing attention to your group mate’s speech and you seemed a bit uneasy then. This brought down your whole group’s image and you should be more careful about this next time.

All in all, I appreciated the peer teaching you have conducted for us and all the best to your future presentations :)

  2. Hi guys!

Thanks for giving us deeper insights into the wiki platform. The presentation was somewhat effective and I definitely took home several key points. Overall, I felt that the use of the laser pointed was useful in bringing our attention to your ideas. As some of the slides tend to be a bit wordy, the laser point sure comes in handy. Good job! However, there is just one issue concerning your group's overall presentation. I felt that there was a lack of flow between the different speakers. It was as though I was attending a presentation given by 3 separate persons. Perhaps the transition phase was a little weak.

@Billet: I like your part on the introduction where you gave us a brief history of the wiki platform. The pictures sure had an impact on your presentation. In a way, you managed to capture the audience attention. :) However, I felt that in any presentation, we should not be reading out from scripts as it reflect badly on us(unpreparedness).

@Wenlue: Thanks for giving us a dummy's guide in setting up a wiki. Your delivery was clear and I was able to follow your steps. However, at most parts of your presentation, you focused too much looking at the computer screen rather than maintaining eye contact with the audience. Also, your speech was rather informal in the context of a presentation.

@Sylvester: Thanks for your detailed presentation. I felt you managed to project your voice well to the audience. However, you tend to be a little nervous just as I was. As what Brad said during today's class, perhaps by slowing down our speech, we would be better able to process our thoughts first. Also, I noticed you had a script in your hand which you did not refer to. In that case, I felt you should not have carried it with you in the first place as what I mentioned to Billet earlier, it shows the lack of confidence.

Having raised my feedbacks, I believe your presentation still delivered its purpose. Rest assured, it does not lack in any content. I guess for your group, the aspects of non-verbal communication has to be worked upon. Cheers people! Thanks!

  3. Hey all!

First and foremost, well done for your presentation! It was a job well done as a whole and I went from knowing nothing about the nus wiki to knowing quite a few vital functions about it! (: I could tell that all of you took great efforts to formulate your slides and presentation as the rich content is definitely evident. However, I felt that your presentation was a tad too technical. Perhaps, it is due to the nature of the subject topic that is to your disadvantage. Also, I felt that audience interaction could have been better as well. But overall, well done!

For Billet, I like your tone a lot! During the presentation, you started it off with a loud & enthusiastic tone, which definitely captivated the audience to pay attention to what you have to offer. Also, I liked that you used more graphical methods to present your content instead of the usual words that we see on slides. However, I felt that at certain times, you sounded a little too informal. Your posture while presenting could perhaps have improved as well. But still, good job! (:

For Wenlue, I could tell that your knowledge of the nus wiki is indeed vast. You seem to know what the functions of the wiki are very well. However, I felt that you were jumping from topic to topic a lot. Perhaps, your presentation could have been slightly more structured and organized. There were certain points of time where you seemed a little lost as to what to say either. Also, perhaps it would be better if you engaged more with the audience by stopping at certain points of time and stepping out from behind the computer to interact with your audience.

For Kwok Loong, you seemed super nervous when you started your presentation but it was great that you slowly adapted to the situation and calmed down after awhile. Your presentation was good, showing that you know your stuff well. However, it was evident that you memorizing and trying to recall your script as you seemed to be staring at the ceiling at certain times to recall what you had to say. Like what Alvin had mentioned, you were holding on to a paper which you didn’t use. So probably, you shouldn’t hold on to it at all next time. But overall, great delivery. I could understand perfectly what you were trying to say. Well done! (:

Great job, guys! I felt that the effort is definitely there. Just a few slight improvements would make your presentation perfect. Well done! ^^

  4. Hey guys!

To be completely honest, I was looking forward to your presentation as I was curious as to how your group was going to pull it off. It looked the most technical and driest of all topics available. In that sense I was quite impressed with the way you guys managed to inject some humour and interest into the topic, especially Billet.

Billet - Your area was certainly the most interesting and as such its always good to start off strong. Set a good tone for the rest of the presentation. You were able to project your voice to the entire class which is definitely a welcome sign of confidence. I agree with Nanhai on the eye contact part though. It looked as if you were concentrated to just one section of the class or towards Brad's direction. Adopted a relaxed tone when needed and seriousness on other occasions. So well done on that!

Wenlue - I had a feeling that you started out very strong and petered out towards the end. Your section was probably about 20 minutes which could explain why my attention was fading away towards the end. Your delivery was excellent though. Appeared very knowledgeable and showed no signs of nervousness, and with a smile throughout(always a good thing!)

Sylvester - of the 3, I felt your content was the most organised and your speech very coherent. I was certainly able to follow your train of thought all the way. Some signs of nervousness initially but well its all part of the learning curve. Finished off strong so I think that's what matters most.

In essence, your group performed better than what I expected. Solid effort! Always room for improvement though. I also couldn't help but wonder for Wenlue's part, would it have been better if you guys made each of us bring our PCs and work on wiki while he was teaching? I feel it would have added a lot more to the interaction level and Sylvester and Billet could have gone round to help those who were having difficulties. Such technical stuff is only absorbed best through practice I feel. What do you guys think?

  5. Hi,

Thank you so much for the informative lesson on Wiki.nus. You guys really showed me the benefits of using Wiki.nus in our projects. I am initially skeptical about using Wiki.nus but now I am convince :) Tks.

Overall, the presentation was great but I feel that the transition between speakers is a bit "jerky". It feels like there are three different speeches. Maybe for your group, the style of presentation was too diversified. If I am not wrong all three of you employed three different ways of presentation. I am not saying diversity is not good but it really felt very messy when you guys executed it. Maybe, you could have set a general tone to the class right from the start.

However, the lesson was really interesting and I like how you guys used the activity to convince us about the benefits of Wiki.nus. Good Job :)

    Billet:
You had great projection of voice and style of presentation. I could feel that you are really convinced and passionate about Wiki.nus. I guess it really helps when you have the passion for something when you present it. Your passion really shone through and I almost though you work for Wiki :)

    Wen Lue:
I could feel that you are like the guru of Wiki.nus already. I think you might have spent great effort in learning more about it. Thanks so much for the effort. However, I feel that you could organize your presentation better. You are jumping all over the place in the website and some of us could get quite lost on where you are. I understand that there is really so many features in Wiki.nus but you could maybe point out to us the features that you think are most useful to us and leave the rest to explore ourselves. But overall, I gain a better feel of how to use Wiki.nus after your presentation. Tks :)

    Sylvester:
Are you always so serious ? haha :) You look so serious through out the presentation that I could not remember any instance in which you smiled.I think you should smile a bit more. But don't take it too personally, being serious in presentation is good, I really got to learn from you. But smiling could make the audience and yourself more relax so smile a bit more k ? However, your content and delivery were great. It was clear and concise and very detailed. Learned a lot from it :)

Overall great jobs guys ! Much to learn from you all :) Tks

  7. Hi Billet,

First of all..... Great job!!! to introduce to us wiki.nus which was thought to be quite troublesome :).

@Billet: I liked your low and high tone mix up while telling the story. Making us laugh also in between catched attention of most of us and there you completed the introduction so easily. There was good eye contact and verbally you were sound in every word you spoke.

@Wenlue: You were very technical throughout which was most required while explaining wiki.nus features. I think you should have rehearsed a bit regarding organization of things to be included in your presentation content. Summary could be useful. Also only the main things which we should know initially should be pointed because otherwise it justs confuses more and more.

Regarding delivery, your eye contact were not sufficient and looked more on content or one person. Could have improved a lot in this area.

You must be confident about what you speak. And for this rehearsal is the best thing to note before presentation.

@Sylvester: Content was good. I personally felt that you were serious and at the same time looking to only one or two person. Use of high and low tones makes communication interesting and catchy. It was Quite monotonous. But you handled everything else pretty well.

Overall It was a very fine presentation.

  8. Hi guys.. I know that this is late, and probably no one will read it already. Still, i feel that i should give my long overdued (way way overdue) comments.

I think the overall presentation was quite good. A simple presentation, although a little "normal/standard". Maybe you could have spice up the presentation with some humour or something?

@Billet: Your steady slow pace makes your speech easy to catch. Nice variation of tone to add color. Something I'm curious if it is a mistake, was on one of your slide headings, "what are we CORING in this course". Is it meant to be COVERING?

@Wenlue: I think your part of the presentation is very information heavy. There was a lot of "empty time" as well. I feel that you could have created screenshots of the main page of the websites, instead of showing us the entire process and waiting. Also, there were no points for us to follow, though that could have been because of the nature of your part. It was hard to see/hear you as you were in the corner at the computer, which could have been improved if you used screenshots instead. Another thing you liked to do is that you tend to say "this one" and "that one". Other than that, i think you were confident in your presentation.

@Sylvester: I like the way you adopted a professional tone. However, you tend to lean back quite often during your presentation. Mayeb you can watch your body language more next time. I think you did well, especially in the introduction.

    Good job guys!
